Hospice Physician Services
The hospice medical director, physician employees, and contracted physician(s) of the hospice, along with your attending physician, are responsible for the palliation and management of your terminal illness and any conditions related to the terminal illness. If your attending physician is not elected to follow you in hospice care and/or is not available, the hospice medical director is responsible for meeting your medical needs.

The physician participates in determining whether hospice care is appropriate based on the patient’s medical condition and prognosis.

The physician may help guide symptom-management decisions and coordinate with the patient’s attending physician when applicable.
